On June 25th, 1950, the armed forces of North Korea, with the support of both The People's Republic of China and the Soviet Union, invaded South Korea. An emergency session of the United Nations was called and, with the Soviet Union fortuitously absent, a resolution was passed to support South Korea with armed force. At first, the North Koreans were successful, steadily forcing the United Nations forces southward until only a small section of Korea remained under United Nations control. With their backs to the wall, the United Nations, under General Douglas MacArthur, launched the daring invasion of Inchon. Against all odds, they succeeded in driving the North Koreans completely out of South Korea and advanced deep into North Korea. China, watching their ally fall, decided to intervene and yet again, the Communist forces were successful in attacking southward -until they were also driven back to basically where things started. After this. Mobile phase, two more years Of bloody deadlock ensued until peace was finally declared.

Korea: Fire and Ice covers this mobile period of the war using a new, dynamic game system that has been specifically created to cover the unique aspects of the proxy war. As the first game in a new series called "Operation Scale System", Korea: Fire and Ice will offer players all the elements of this unusual form of warfare. Emphasis is placed on command, supply, the first jet air battle, and maintaining adequate national infrastructure to support each side's military. Look for more games in the future covering our modern way of making war.
